The Branch organisation for the Mechanisation Companies
The Organisation of Mechanisation Companies (COM) is the branch organisation for the Mechanisation Companies in the agriculture and market gardening sector.
Members of the COM are companies who trade in machinery and tools that are being used for the agricultural or the green space sector. Besides that, they offer service and they do repair work. With approximately 775 subscribed members the COM covers 90 to 95 per cent of all the mechanisation companies. As a precondition for joining the COM a company also has to be subscribed with the Metaalunie, the enterprise organisation for the small and medium-sized businesses in the metal-industry.
Objective
The COM looks after the interests of the subscribed members in the broadest sense of the word. For example, by having contacts with different authorities and companies.
Next to the general interests, we also look after the individual interests and we provide several services for the members. The COM guards the quality of the education in agricultural mechanisation by taking place in different boards and committees of the IPC-Plant and ROC Aventus and other relevant organisations.
Activities
The activities the COM develops are aiming particularly at informing the members.
That’s why there are information evenings being held about important developments for the branch. There are also annual assemblies taking place in which we review and preview, for example, the developments on the market. The COM releases different interesting publications for her members, like the COM mechanisation yearbook and COMmunication, the newsletter for members.
Especially for her members, the COM has developed the ‘VCA- & Inspectionsystem’.
Companies that obtain the VCA certificate can show that within their business they are working under safe circumstances. Furthermore, they comply with this VCA certificate to all the demands the ARBO-law holds to companies. Next to the VCA-certificate, companies also have disposal of a certified inspection-system, COM-mark. This involves that it can be proved that inspections on machines and tools happen in a way that sures safe operation.
